The owners of this residence had done tasteful modernist renovations in the past, but now needed to add some additional space for their growing family, and needed to do it on a tight budget.  The solution was to add space above the garage to minimize foundation costs, and then to create a cascading rear deck with multiple levels and that connects the new space to the ground.
